Lips Augmentation for Fuller and Plumper Lips
Lip augmentation is a common cosmetic procedure done primarily for improving the aesthetics of the lips. Some individuals have thin and less voluminous lips which can make them very conscious about their overall facial appearance. Fuller and copious lips give a mature and sensual look to the person. Many people prefer having these kinds of features and the best way to attain this is to undergo a lip augmentation procedure. Numerous celebrities are known to have undergone lip filler procedures that showcase a staggering difference to the older features they possessed. To a layman, a lip augmentation procedure can be confusing, leaving the person with many doubts.
So what is a lip augmentation procedure? Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that aims at giving the person a plumper lip that appears more sensual. The most common method used is dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid fillers. Tissue grafting, fat grafting and implants could also be used to achieve fuller lips. Since the year 2000, lip augmentation and the use of lip fillers is just increasingly growing. This procedure is done to correct uneven lips and give an enhanced appearance of being full.
Lip Fillers
Lip fillers are injections that are given in the region of the lips. Most often collagen fillers, hyaluronic fillers are used to increase the volume of the lips. This is an affordable option compared to invasive procedures such as lip surgeries or implants. The recovery time for a lip filler is much lesser than implants. It is advised that the patient must avoid rubbing the lips for at least 48 hours after the procedure. In a period of 3 to 4 weeks, the desired look is achieved. Though not a permanent solution, lip fillers can give results for 6 months to a year.
Lip Implants
Another way of improving the appearance of the lips is by using lip implants. These products are usually made of silicone or saline solutions or polytetrafluroethylene. The implants are placed by making a small incision at the buccal cavity. There will be a very minimal scarring that disappears with time. Lip implants last many years and are considered a permanent lip augmentation procedure.
Lip Grafting
Lip augmentation can also be done by tissue or fat grafting. Tissue or fat from a donor site is transferred to the lip until the desired results are obtained. The incision is made in the buccal cavity and sutured using dissolvable sutures. In fat grafting, the fat can be moved to the syringe by using syringes and incision is not often needed. Both the type of grafting gives the patient a full, plump and symmetrical lips.
Dermal Fillers
This is the most popular and non-invasive method of lip augmentation. Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, are injected into the lips to add volume. The results are temporary, typically lasting several months to a year, and the procedure can be repeated as needed. Dermal fillers offer flexibility in achieving the desired lip shape and size.
Fat Transfer
In this procedure, fat is harvested from another part of your body, typically the abdomen or thighs, and then injected into the lips. This method provides a more permanent solution, but it may require multiple sessions to achieve the desired result.
Lip Implants
Lip implants involve the surgical placement of silicone or other synthetic materials to add volume to the lips. This method provides a longer-lasting solution, but it also carries more risks and potential complications than non-surgical options.
Lip Lift
A lip lift is a surgical procedure that shortens the upper lip's distance from the base of the nose, which can make the lips appear fuller and more plump. It's a permanent solution but involves surgery and recovery time.
Lip Tints and Makeup
For those seeking a temporary and non-invasive solution, lip tints and makeup can be used to create the illusion of fuller lips. Overlining the lips, using lip plumping gloss, or applying lip tints that give a fuller appearance can be effective for a few hours.
Microneedling and Lip Masks
Microneedling can stimulate collagen production in the lips, giving them a plumper appearance over time. Lip masks and topical products containing collagen or hyaluronic acid can also help temporarily improve lip fullness.
